How the World Eats
I discovered this amazing photo essay by Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio, documenting the weekly consumption of food by 30 families across 24 countries. The book, Hungry Planet – What the World Eats, won the James Beard Book of the Year award in 2006, and is an eye-opening look at how different cultures perceive their relationship with food. It also shows that the richness of your table does not necessarily depend on the size of your wallet. Ironically, the families that eat the most healthfully are often not from the richest of countries. Mm…some food for thought.
